AIDA International is an international training system that is recognized by freediving schools all over the world and has high teaching standards. Receiving the AIDA certificate, a freediver confirms a high level of knowledge and skills.
Why is a certificate needed?
- Confirmation of the completed stage of training and the opportunity to start the course of the next stage
- If you want to advance in freediving and become an instructor
- Rent equipment from freediving centers around the world
- Admission to deep pools worldwide (often impossible to enter without a valid certificate)
- Discounts on pool training at selected freediving schools
To successfully complete the training and obtain a certificate, it is necessary to master the skills for each stage, to be able to demonstrate them, and easily repeat them if necessary. An "accidental" dive to the required depth does not count and the freediver must be able to repeat it easily with good technique.
AIDA 1 - INTRODUCTION TO FREEDIVING
For AIDA 1 certification, a student must demonstrate:
- Preparation of personal equipment
- Complete breathing cycle with correct preparatory and recovery breathing
- Ability to safety and rescue in statics and dynamics
- Dive with fins from the surface of the water
- Correct diving technique with fins
- Fundamentals of Pressure Compensation
- Safety a freediver from the surface
- Rescue in case of LMC on the surface
AIDA 2 - BEGINNER FREEDIVER
For AIDA 2 certification, the student must demonstrate:
- Preparation of personal equipment
- Complete breathing cycle with correct preparatory and recovery breathing
- Static 2:00 minutes
- Ability to safety and rescue in static
- Diving 40 meters horizontally in shallow water with fins with correct technique, start, turn
- Ability to safety and rescue in dynamics
- Dive with fins to a depth of 12-20 meters with correct duck dive, finning and turn techniques
- Free Immersion technique
- Safety from a depth of 10 meters, Rescue from 10-6m
- Pass the written theory exam
AIDA 3 - ADVANCED FREEDIVER
For AIDA 3 certification, the student must demonstrate:
- the preparation of personal equipment
- ability to design a static workout (interval training "table")
- a static breath-hold (STA) of 2 minutes 45 seconds
- Safety and rescue for a static breath-hold
- the ability to independently establish neutral buoyancy for horizontal swimming in shallow water
- Ability to design and perform a dynamic workout (interval training "table")
- ability to perform a 55 meter horizontal swim (DYN) in shallow water with correct technique, start, turn
- Safety and rescue in dynamics
- Dive with bifins to a depth (CWTB) of 24-30 meters with correct technique, dive, turn
- Skills: Safety Lanyard, Self Rescue, Underwater Mask Loss, Free Fall, Frenzel Equalization
- Safety and rescue from a depth of 15 meters
- Towing an unconscious freediver on the surface for 50 meters
- Pass the written theory exam
AIDA 4 - ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR
For AIDA 4 certification, the student must demonstrate:
- Preparing common equipment for the group
- Conducting general and special stretching for the group
- Coaching a partner in statics and dynamics
- Static 3 minutes 30 seconds
- Safety and rescue in static
- Correct neutral buoyancy for horizontal shallow water diving (DYN)
- Self-designed dynamic workout and its implementation
- Diving in length with bifins (DYNB) 70 meters with correct technique, start, turn
- Safety and rescue in dynamics
- Dive with bifins to a depth (CWTB) of 32-38 meters with correct technique, dive, turn
- Skills: diving with passive exhalation, ascent with one fin from 20 meters, equalization with Mouthfill, ascent from 20 meters without a mask, variable weight.
- Safety and rescue of a freediver from a depth of 20 meters + towing an unconscious freediver on the surface for 50 meters
- Pass the written theory exam
INSTRUCTOR'S COURSE
Training on an instructor course does not imply personal coaching for passing standards. Depth, statics and dynamics standards should be met at the beginning of the course. It is assumed that the instructor candidate does this easily and with good technique.
The purpose of the course is learning how to teach freediving to others.
Please make sure you will be able to meet the following requirements before applying for an instructor course:
- STA 4-5 minutes
- DYN 90 meters
- DNF 50 meters
- CWTB 40-50 meters
- FIM 40-50 meters
- CWTB 30 meters in 1 minute 30 seconds
- FIM 30 meters in 2 minutes 00 seconds
- Rescue from 25 meters + transportation of the freediver to the shore 50 meters with rescue procedures
- Static at 15m for 1 minute + rescue
- Endurance test: 5 x 20 meters, 1 minute interval
- CNF 20 meters
A detailed course program, materials, tasks for preliminary training are sent to the instructor candidate after booking and paying a 50% deposit for the course. The earlier the candidate receives the materials, the easier the course will be.
